There are many benefits to country living and one is my yoga class in the old church hall in Murrurundi in the Upper Hunter Valley.
The journey there provides vistas across to the purple coloured Liverpool Ranges and the rugged granite outcrops of the Wingen Maid, and in good times, the lush paddocks of the local farms.
Murrurundi is tucked into a narrow valley, and some of the old cottages have been restored and are now used by artists and other creators.
After yoga today, we all met in the grounds of Michael Reid’s Gallery, the surrounding gardens lush with plantings of hellebores and jonquils which flashed white amongst the greenery.
We shared coffee and tea and tales of the drought and the rising cost of feed for those of us who have cattle, sheep or horses to care for.
The conversation plus the yoga equals a restorative time for all of us. Bless you John West (yoga teacher)!
