I have been writing fiction and poetry for many years and I have had stories and poems published in anthologies. I won 1st prize in a FAW Short Story Competition in 2008 as well as being short listed in the Alan Marshall Award in the same year. I was short listed for a Varuna Publishing Fellowship for my novel Wild Honey in 2013.
I developed a passion and interest in bees while researching material for my novel. As a farmer, I am acutely aware of the threats to the environment, to our land and water, from a number of sources, and this environmental interest, has expanded to an awareness of the threats to the bee population, which is a vital element in many areas of food production.
I have just finished a middle grade fiction work, which I have submitted to a competition and also to a publisher accepting unsolicited manuscripts.
