Gruffalo and Cinderella

This was my second Book Week at Scone Library and this year I had two groups of local kids.

The first was a very attentive Year 1 group from the local school, not costumed but all in very neat school uniform.

They sat on the mat and I read The Very Noisy Baby and The Sloth who came to stay. There was a great show of hands as we talked about the qualities of the sloth. Did you know they can hold their breath underwater for 40 minutes?

As their attention was not lagging I also showed them the wonderful illustrations and text in Claire Saxby’s book Dingo which must be a contender next year.

Next a line of little people  from the local pre-school walked into the library, adorned with coloured hats and a variety of Book Week costumes…many princesses, Batman and  a Gruffalo with purple prickles all over his back.

After I had read two books , one little girl at the front said, ‘ Well that’s enough’, and she was right!

I love books and I love sharing my passion with children and seeing their faces discover the treasure within the pages.
