The Fires still burn

This image is from my neighbour Kerri who went with David and the Bunnan fire truck to help out those whose properties were still threatened by fire, near Cassilis, NSW. They stayed until 4am creating fire breaks, putting out new eruptions and relieving other crews who had been there for days. The Golden Highway is now a misnomer, as the whole area from Cassilis to Dunedoo is a blackened wasteland.

There are now many local groups organising aid for those families who have lost everything and setting up hay drops to help farmers who have lost all their feed. The sense of community spirit is amazing. Thanks to all the RFS volunteers and professionals for keeping us safe.
